About the Spectrum Sleep Out 2017
"We all had our share of trying moments growing up. But most of us didn't have to worry about whether we would have food to eat or somewhere to sleep. Participating in the Sleep Out last night exposed me to some of the awful situations that troubled youth are put in. I want to do more to help."

The Sleep Out is an annual event that raises funds to provide young adults a safe place to live and access to the services that will help them build their own success.
On Thursday, March 23 more than 100 business and community leaders from the Burlington area and beyond came together for Spectrum’s Executive Sleep Out. They spent the night outside, sleeping on the ground, in solidarity with teenagers and young adults who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
The weekend following the Executive Sleep Out, about 400 of students joined the movement as part of the Student Sleep Out. The students unrolled their sleeping bags at locations across Chittenden County to show their support for homeless youth.
Our goal was to raise $265,000 to provide homeless and at risk youth the services they need to build future success and independence. Thanks to you, we passed our goal and raised over $350,000.The event required so few expenses to pull it off that 99% of every dollar will go directly to programs that help homeless and at risk youth.
Each Executive Sleep Out participant raised a minimum of $2000 (enough to support a youth for about 6 months in Spectrum’s supportive housing). We asked each student to raise $25, though there was no fundraising minimum for students.
